To support the need to encourage health and fitness, the extended walking trail plan is to add mile markers, and areas for rest and exercise. Many individuals in the community have expressed their interest in a walking club as well as the need to have a place to push a stroller and access the park with a wheelchair. The walking path is designed to provide equal accessibility for all throughout the park and add a continuity of design along with the park beautification plan.
Easy accessibility for all throughout the park
ADA compliant surface
Health and Fitness, and walks shared by all age-groups
Adds to the continuity of design as well as the park beautification plan
Adds another entrance to the park
Helps maximize the potential of the park
Writer's Nights & the Arts
There are many talented songwriters in CheathamCounty, yet there is no public facility available to showcase their songs. Many organizations, groups, and individuals are interested in bringing arts to the community and creating a yearly program for all the unsung artists. Plans for a two tiered town square gazebo set in a peaceful end of the park will offer the town personal expression and connection to nature and a place to enjoy the arts in the community.
Friends of PegramPark will be submitting foundation and corporate grant proposals to help support-visiting artists, children shows, country and bluegrass music, and other free community events. Currently, Friends of Pegram Park showcases Writer's Nights at the Pegram Community Club on Thompson Road.
Community Garden
We are currently working with Community Garden Organizations as well as local schools, senior citizen groups, and others to set up programs that will not only grow but will help the community grow. Such programs will teach the children as well as adults, the joy of caring for plants, planting a row for the hungry and growing flowers for the nursing homes. Other programs include opportunities to learn sound conservation measures that preserve the soil and protect the environment, opportunities for horticulture therapy for the mentally and physically disabled and special needs individuals. The garden also provides the opportunity for all age groups to share common ground and share their common interests.
A country garden style theme and an ornamental layout will represent the small town “feel” which many residents cherish. Community groups, individuals, organizations, and businesses will be encouraged to “Adopt a Garden” and help, by being a part of the unique program.
Friends of PegramPark will be submitting corporate and foundation grants proposals to provide tools, and seeds for the community groups that participate.

Basketball Court
Several years ago, the park had a basketball goal located in the middle of the parking lot. This area was often dangerous and non-accessible. The basketball goal was removed and a new regulation size basketball court was built away from traffic -- the first item completed in our master plan! This basketball court is a huge success and we are very proud of it.
The Basketball court offers another athletic sport to the community.
